Forage and Feast Day

This event has had us excited ever since its conception last Autumn!

A collaboration with Lucy May, Vegan chef, to really get your taste buds tantalised.

The day will begin with a beautiful circular farm walk encompassing private, unspoilt woodlands. Cover crops of Phacelia and Red Clover should be in full bloom, displaying a spectacle of gentle purple hues, full of bees and butterflies.

En route we will identify wild plants growing that have edible or medicinal properties and walk through the untouched beauty of High and Low Woods. Half-way round there will be an optional guided meditation or time to just be in the peace and quiet.

On returning to the farmstead there will be the opportunity for garden walks while Lucy works her magic cooking on the Woodland open fire cooking up a feast of small plates, using seasonal and some foraged ingredients, for you to try. Recipe cards will be provided for dishes offered if you want to get creative and have a go.

Come with friends or come with the intention of making new friends, but be sure to bring an appetite. Food will be served from 5pm onwards and finish time will be a relaxed 6.30/7ish to enjoy the summer evening.

The walk will be off the beaten track at times so suitable footwear will be necessary, as well as moderate walking fitness. We are hoping for beautiful weather, but a wet weather contingency is in place for cooking. Places are limited to 12 people so book early to avoid missing out!

We look forward to welcoming you for a unique day connecting with nature and great food.

Do I need to bring anything?

All mats, blankets, equipment & materials are provided, but if you have a favourite blanket/cushion/mat do feel free to bring them along. Your comfort is very important to Well & Truly.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes, but unfortunately due to the small number of spaces on the course Well & Truly is unable to give a refund for cancellation if less than 2 weeks ahead of the scheduled date. If you can find a friend or family member to take your place that is fine. You can receive a full refund if more than than 2 weeks is given to enable Well & Truly the chance to make the place available to someone else.

What shall I wear?

For meditations, loose comfortable clothing for sitting, lying & gentle movement. We remove our shoes to go into the meditation space so do bring cosy socks if you like to keep your toes toasty.

For retreat days, footwear that is suitable for walking on uneven ground & the weather conditions. Loose comfortable clothing & in the Autumn, Winter & early Spring wear plenty of layers. We will go inside to warm up at points in the day.

Is the farm easy to find?

Yes, we are about a quarter of a mile from the Bainton Roundabout. You will be sent an email a week before attending with full directions & what to look out for to find the farm. Directions will include What3Words as well as Sat-Nav instructions if preferred. There is plenty of private parking on arrival.

I find it hard to sit on the floor. Will I be comfortable enough to meditate?

No problem, you can sit or lie down for all practices. You can use a cushion to sit against a wall & there are plenty of supports & props to aid comfort.

I don't like shutting my eyes, will this be OK?

That's fine, you don't have to shut your eyes to meditate. There are images on the walls to use for focus if you would prefer. If outside, you can pick a point of focus.
