If you have arrived at this website it’s likely that you are searching to bring more calm into your life, perhaps improve your self-care, connect with your insight and inner wisdom, improve your mental and physical health or just simply be less stressed.
You’re in the right place - meditation can do all these things.
Meditation has far-reaching benefits for your physical and mental health. Here are just some:
- Reduce stress and build stress resilience
- Improve sleep
- Improve concentration
- Lower blood pressure
- Reduce inflammation and pain
- Reduce anxiety and feelings of depression
- Improve immune system
Pretty impressive list, right?
But maybe you’re thinking, “I’d love to meditate, but I can’t…”
The good news is - everyone can meditate…there is no mind too busy to meditate! Trust me, I know all about fizzing brains…The aim of meditation is not to ‘empty’ the mind but to focus it.
If you have tried unsuccessfully to meditate in the past, it’s possible that you have just not found the right style for you. Meditation styles range from traditional, spiritual practices to more contemporary approaches. We can explore many different styles to help you find the right one that suits your unique learning style. If the meditative state is a journey, there are many ways of travelling. I prefer to liken Meditation to a journey rather than a destination, as by comparing it to a destination infers that one day you will reach an ‘end’. However, with meditation there is no end goal as such, there are, for example, levels of consciousness to be tapped into, degrees of insight to access, levels of focus to improve, but these gains are all ever-evolving. It’s an incredibly fascinating journey!
When we meditate or practice mindfulness, we switch our nervous systems out of the stress response (fight/flight/freeze response) and into the relaxation response. There is an ever mounting body of scientific research that shows the profound effects this can have on your health and experience of life. We’ll save some examples for another day…
Once you have discovered the sheer power of meditation as a healing force there really is no turning back. The journey that meditation unfolds can be surprising and sometimes even challenging, but always rewarding. As I progressed through my Meditation Teacher Training, so much insight unfolded before me, and as I continue my practice, I continue to peel away the layers of discovery. It’s the gift that really does keep on giving.
